Haginoyu sento

INTRO

Haginoyu is the largest sento in Tokyo (in the category of normal sento) and it was rebuild in 2017. They have 4 different types of bath tubs with semi-open air bathing area and a large sauna. They also have a restaurant. The first picture shows the layout of the women area. The male area has an enlarged sauna, but no steam sauna. The outdoor bath has a 1.8sqm opening through the ceiling. All the rest seems to be the same. A feature of this sento is its morning operation, from 6am to 9am, allowing guests to use the baths in the early hours of the day.

Access: The Haginoyu Onsen is a 4min walk from the JR Yamanote Station “Uguisudani” (Exit via North Exit)

SAUNA

The sauna can occupy 24-28 people. It has 2 benches. The temperature is 91 degrees. UPDATE 30dec2020: temperature is 100 degrees.

The heat is from an oven | TV available, sometimes with audio | UPDATE 30dec2020: seat pads are now provided.

Steam sauna

Only in the woman area incl. salt to smoothen the skin and get rid of the old skin.

BATH

Indoor:

Cold Bath: 18°C, 5-7 ppl | Hot Bath (w/special ingredient): 42°C, 6-8 ppl | Jet Bath: 38.8°C, 10-14 ppl | Carbonated Bath: 38.8°C, 6-8ppl

Outdoor (partially open, 1.8sqm open ceiling):

Body-temperature Bath: 32°C, 8-10 ppl

Tip: try to get the space below the open ceiling from the outside bath. You can look up to the sky, the clouds, and in the night to the stars. On a rainy or snowy day, feel the rain drops or snow flakes on your face.
