Somei sakura Onsen

INTRO

Sakura means cherry blossom, The onsen is near the Yamanote Line Station Sugamo, a 8 minute walk away. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the design modern and simplistic. You receive a key which you use to lock your changing room locker (the number on your key has nothing to do with your locker number). You can use use this key to buy drinks and accessories within the onsen from the vending machines, e.g. t-shirts, underwear, towels, razors, and drinks.

An amber-colored natural hot spring that springs from the birthplace of Yoshino cheery tree, 1800m deep, colorless and transparent, which is rare in Tokyo. It shines amber when poured into a bathtub. It contains plenty of natural minerals from the stratum about 10 million years ago. It has an excellent heat-retaining and moisturizing effect, and has a reputation for making your skin smooth.

Instead of plastic stools and bowels, everything is wooden. Together with the black tiles and the white ceiling, it gives a very cool look-and-feel. Special is also the provided body wash, shampoo and conditioner. You can chose between Argan & Sesame Oil or Botanical Materials dispensers. Argan oil contains for example a large number of healing properties. Both help reduce symptoms for a number of different inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis and rosacea.

SAUNA

The sauna is 70°C at the first bench and around 88°C at the 7th bench (estimated). The sauna fits around 24 people.

No plastic seat pads are provided in front of the sauna. So better bring your own foam pad or use a towel.

The lukewarm water in the indoor cypress bath is said to stimulate the parasympathetic nerves and has effects such as relaxing effect, restful sleep effect, appetite enhancement, and immune system strengthening.
